Color(s) of the Year

It’s been 2 months since Pantone named the 2015 Color of the Year: Marsala. Let’s take a look at the other colors that will be dominating this year.

Pantone describes their color of the year as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies, and souls”. The color draws on earth tones, while still holding a deep, vibrant hue.

Blake and Miranda were among a few who graced the red carpet in Marsala this fall.

Marsala grounds the Spring 2015 color palette that Pantone has named “En Plein Air”. They say this palette has “cooler and softer color choices with subtle warm tones follow a minimalistic en plein air theme, taking a cue from nature”. Nature inspired indeed. The left end of the spectrum reminds us of cool water while the right brings the opposing warmth of the sun.

You can have so much fun with this color palette, which is exactly what Pantone Universe and Sephora did. The two companies partnered together to create four products: a matte lipstick, shimmering blush trio, lip layering kit, and an eye palette (all of which are sold out online). This partnership was a wonderful reminder that these colors are going to be seen everywhere this year, not just in the apparel industry.
