As cautious as we all are in declaring it “warm again”; I am optimistic in sidestepping ole’ Punxsutawney Phil (the weather forecasting groundhog) by saying it is indeed time to start incorporating floral prints and lush, colorful hues into our wardrobes once again. Sometimes, we need a little DIY project to amp up our wardrobes. Fan of simple projects and all things denim? Read on-
It’s all really too easy-
To achieve this look; just hit your local Goodwill/Thrift shop and purchase a pair of denim overalls or dress. Trust me, there will be one for you there. It is a very safe promise that you can find denim overalls/overall dress, perhaps in a larger size, but that is preferred and even easier to work with!
Once you have your garment; slice off the bottom portion.
Try on the “overall bib”.
Assess how loose/fitted you deem necessary for your comfort.
I measured around 2.5-3 inches from the width and overlapped the ends as pictured. Pin in place-
SEW! You can use a straight stitch or zig-zag stitch for greater ease in stretching the fabric.
(Either hand-sew or use a machine! The thread is called “Stone Blue” or something like that.. It is barely visible on denim.)
Bonus *- Leave the ends raw. Let them fray; It says – “I care about the important issues in life, imperfections are beautiful, and my time is valuable.”
There are so many options. Pair your top with a floral print blouse and orange/red pants as I did, over a striped polo, turtleneck, peasant blouse- the list continues!
Till next time,
