Avoiding the “I Have Nothing to Wear” Tragedy

Everyone has struggled to put an outfit together at one point. We search through piles of clothes in our closets, but we’re still unsatisfied with what we have, making us feel like we have nothing to wear. Luckily, I’ve learned from my mistakes and have come up with a few shopping tips to help avoid this dreaded scenario.

#1 Don’t Buy for the Price

Whenever we see something that’s on sale, we are quick to buy it even if we don’t like it that much. DO NOT BUT IT! If it is something you really love and it happens to be a great price, then go for it! Otherwise, ask yourself, “Do I love this enough to buy it if it were regular price?” If the answer is no, then save yourself the money, don’t just buy it because it is on sale. It may be inexpensive, but you’ll be saving more money if you just don’t buy it. Also, you’re preventing yourself from filling your closet with items you don’t really love, which brings me to my next point…

#2 Buy Quality Items

This doesn’t mean items with high quality fabric or material. It means buy items that you LOVE, items you are OBSSESSED with, items that you can wear over and over and never get tired of. It’s better to fill your closet with a few amazing pieces than to have an entire closet full of things that are average and that will hide in the back of your closet. When you buy quality items, you’re less likely to feel like you have nothing to wear because you have clothes that you love and always want to wear.

#3 Wear in Moderation

Now that you’ve gone shopping and have found quality pieces, don’t wear them all right away. I know it’s very tempting, but if you wear it all in a week, you’ll feel like you have nothing to wear because you already wore everything you just bought. Then, you’ll feel the urge to go shopping again. When you wear your new clothes in moderation, it’ll be weeks until you’ve worn everything and the longer new items stay in your closest, the less likely you’ll feel like you have nothing to wear.

There you go, fashionistas! This scenario is inevitable, but hopefully these tips will prolong this stressful feeling as much as possible.
