The annual Victoria Secret Show occurred on November 8 and will premiere on U.S television December 2 on ABC. The VS Fashion Show is the most watched fashion event of the year, with 800 million people tuning in annually. This year’s show showcased sixty models with around ninety looks, the company spends about $12 million pulling it all together.
The show has taken place all around the world, from London, Paris, Miami, and even Shanghai. This year’s show took place in New York City on 12th Avenue at Pier 94.
The models in the 2018 show included everyone’s favorites, from Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner to runway returners like Cindy Bruna, Devon Windsor, Leomie Anderson and Shanina Shaik. After her absence of five years, German model Toni Garrn, returned to the show to make her comeback; two new angels, Winnie Harlow and Duckie Thot, made their Victoria’s Secret debuts as well. While there were many new angels this year, it was Adriana Lima that stole the spotlight as she took her last walk as a Victoria Secret Angel and will be hanging up her wings.
Every year, Victoria Secret picks one designer to collaborate on their designs. This year, they were in collaboration with Mary Katrantzou; who is often referred to as the “Queen of Prints”. She is known for her colorful and feminine designs so she is sure to add some pops of color to this year’s show. Mary Katrantzou is a very well-known designer who has been worn by big name celebrities, like Beyonce and Rihanna. Victoria Secret also collaborated with Atelier Swarovski to create the 2018 Fantasy Bra that was adorned with more than 2,100 Swarovski diamonds and valued at $1 million; it took over 930 hours to create and has over 71 carats in the center piece. The model chosen to wear Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra this year was Elsa Hosk.
Each year, Victoria Secret picks an eclectic group of artists to perform during the show. This year’s show included Bebe Rexha, The Chainsmokers, Halsey, Kelsea Ballerini, Rita Ora, Shawn Mendes and The Struts. Victoria Secret executive producer, Ed Razek, commented on this year’s show saying, “The show is a year-long production and 2018 promises to be our most ambitious yet. We have more musical guests, more fashion and more stories than ever, and of course, 60 of the world’s top models.”
