Once again we find ourselves back to the daily grind of waking up early, back to back classes, and piles of homework, leaving no time for ourselves. Though school takes a tole on the amount of free time we have, I find myself using school as more of an excuse to not stay healthy and active. But, the excuses are over! There are so many ways to incorporate exercise and healthy choices into our everyday routine. Here are a few ideas to get you motivated:
WALK WALK WALK
Yes, it’s freezing on campus and the bus may seem to be so convenient, but walking around campus to get from one class to another can really make a difference. The steps and hills on campus only appear tiring but can really serve as a warm-up or full workout. At the end of the day, the steps you took can really add up and burn calories.
I know the struggle of walking by Dolci E Cafe and wanting every treat that they have to offer, but even though it looks so appetizing after a stressful day of classes, the calories are not energizing or filling. They aren’t worth it! Instead of the fattening, greasy meal that we crave after class, choosing a healthier option filled with protein will give us the energy and health benefits that we need to make it throughout the day.
DRINK WATER. Drinking water throughout the day can help clear your skin, brighten your complexion, boost your energy and help relieve bloating. If you are a huge coffee drinker like me, have a glass of water with every cup of coffee, to keep you hydrated with the dose of caffeine. If the blandness of water makes it tough to drink, try adding no-calorie flavorings or a lemon slice!
