Baby, It’s Getting Cold Outside!

Everyone knows that fall is the superior out of all seasons. Thanks to Virginia weather, fall slapped us right across the face when we least expected it. I for one, am not complaining because now my closet can reach its full potential and I can really start dressing. Nevertheless, some of you may ask, how do I deal with this sudden transition? In the summer, clothes are simple: a couple pairs of shorts and skirts, tank tops, and a mini-dress here and there and you’re set for the season, but now, Virginia fall is a bit hectic; it’s freezing in the morning, semi-warm during the day, and then freezing again at night. Well, I’m here to tell you about the staple pieces for this season that’ll keep you warm and still looking fashionable when the bitter cold hits!

A turtleneck is an instant classic when dressing for fall and winter. It makes any outfit look sophisticated and well put together. From a pair of denim jeans to slacks to a skirt, a turtleneck could go perfect with anything, especially a black one.

Denim jackets are a must-have in everyone’s closet, but a corduroy jacket is the denim jacket for fall. The unique structure and texture of corduroy and the comfort and warmth it provides is what makes it better for the season than a normal denim jacket.

For the chillier days, a trench coat – the big sister of blazers – can be just the right finishing touch. You can dress up or dress down this coat, but it’s best paired with a turtleneck or sweater for another warm but stylish look.

From flannels, coats, skirts, pants, and more, plaid is the print that just keeps on giving. Although, for fall, the go-to has been plaid pants. They can spice up any outfit, all while protecting your legs from the cold.

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons, but the fashion is definitely the game changer. The feeling of being cozy wherever I go while still looking stylish is a top tier feeling. I think these staples are the foundations for making a fit for the season and I hope I helped you stay warm and cozy this fall, too!
