The cold wind and dry air of winter can take a toll on your body. In the past, come November, my face battles flakiness, my nails become brittle, my knuckles crack, and my hair becomes static central station. This year I decided enough was enough, I’m fighting back against the effects of cold weather air, and after a few trial and error attempts at various products, these are the must-haves I have found!
Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream
This ultra thick matte cream moisturizes your skin to the max without leaving any greasy residue. It helps retain moisture in your skin, and it’s non-irritating, which is amazing for my super-sensitive skin. I usually use this at night, but if I know the weather is especially cold or windy, I apply it in the morning before putting on makeup to give my skin a smooth, hydrated base.
Murad Hydro-Dynamic Moisture Level
I received a sample of this face cream in a monthly subscription bag, and honestly I just can’t get enough. It contains hyaluronic acid, making it ultra-hydrating but still lightweight. It’s great for dry, normal, combination, and sensitive skin types! I use it at night and in the morning for a quick, light-weight moisture surge.
Glossier Super Bounce
If you’re more of a serum kind of person, this hyaluronic acid and vitamin b5 serum will give your skin moisture and a healthy glow with just two to three drops. It’s great for travel, makes your skin look great under makeup, and can even act on its own without a cream or lotion. While I prefer a thick moisturizer if I’m going to be out a lot, I love using this serum on days when I know I’ll be inside for most of the day. I also often use this on makeup-free days as an extra boost of moisture.
Aquaphor Healing Ointment
I couldn’t live without this ointment in the winter. I use it year-round, but in the winter it’s perfect for dry knuckles, cuticles, hands, knees, or elbows. It isn’t a lotion or a cream, it acts as a protective barrier while moisturizing and soothing dry, cracked skin. I use this every night before bed on all of my driest skin, and I also carry around a travel sized tube throughout the day. If I were to insist on any product, it would be this one.
Extra Virgin Coconut Oil Moisturizing Cream
I discovered this cream over the summer and the coconut smell was perfect for the season. However, the consistency of this cream is perfect for the winter weather. I use this all over my body after every shower for deep moisture. NatureWell has similar creams made with other products, like avocado oil and pumpkin oil, so if coconut isn’t your thing, especially in the winter, don’t worry, you have options!
CND Essentials Nail & Cuticle Oil
Working as a barista, my hands and fingers get crazy dry during the winter. Cuticle oil is the only way I can keep my cuticles from cracking and drying out. I use cuticle oil every night, and multiple times a day, especially on the days I work. Using this in addition to hand lotion, my nails stay healthy all winter.
Pro tip: If you wash dishes frequently, try using rubber gloves to protect your hands!
Miracle Moist 3 Minute Miracle
This quick in-shower leave-in conditioner is ultra hydrating. My hair always feels so soft and tangle free after using this. I try to use it once or twice a week during the winter to keep my hair moisturized and healthy throughout. It doesn’t hurt that this product has a price you can’t beat, too!
Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner
This leave-in or rinse-out conditioner restores, detangles, and moisturizes lifeless, damaged hair. I love using this product as a leave-in moisturizer. I spray a couple pumps in my hand and work it through damp hair after I hop out of the shower. Not only does it moisturize my hair for the rest of the day, but my hair looks shinier, smoother, and feels softer all day!
